The role of Rel proteins / NFkB / IkB in the pathogenesis of cancer

Rel family of transcription / NFkB / IkB plays an important role in the regulation of a number of processes related to immune and inflammatory responses and control the growth of normal and neoplastic cells. In the present knowledge of the structure of proteins Rel / NF-kB / IkB, mechanisms of action, physiological significance, and discusses their role in the pathogenesis of retroviral-induced cancers and other human cancers, especially leukemias and lymphomas. The paper presents a method of counteracting the disturbances in this family of proteins leading to tumorigenesis.
