Belonging to the endocrine cells of neuroectodermal distributed APUD cells play an important przypęcherzykowe C and not fully explained role in maintaining the homeostasis of the body. Each year brings ever new discoveries showing the complexity of their structure and function. C cells have receptors for various hormones and are the source of numerous regulatory peptides of auto - , para-and endocrine . Some of them , including calcitonin and somatostatin are important practical and used in the treatment of many diseases . Multi-organ localization of receptors for these peptides suggests the possibility of systemic multidirectional impact. They are essential in the regulation of intracellular metabolism , growth process
and differentiation of cells, the calcium-phosphate , as well as affect the synthesis and release of other hormones. Puzzle and multiple functions of C cells give rise to attempt to present the current state of knowledge about them.
